Senior Football
This looked for a long time that the home side were going to drop points two weeks running as Rasheney defended deep and an inspired display from keeper Johnathan Noone almost saw them claim a point. Terence Doherty broke clear in the 5th minute but was denied by the legs of Noone before Paul Fisher had a header cleared off the line by Emyln Doherty.A John McDaid cross then found John G McLaughlin but he headed straight at Noone before on the stroke of half time Charlie Byrne released Doherty but again Noone saved with his feet. It followed the same pattern on the resumption with Glengad pressing and Rasheney defending deep. John G Mclaughlin was denied by a great smothering save from Noone before a deep Jason Doherty cross found Byrne whose effort crashed off the post. On 70 minutes Matthew Byrne fed Terence Doherty but again Noone was equal to the task. Just when it looked like it was heading for a draw Rasheney cleared a corner to John G McDermott who fired a stunning twenty five yards effort to the top corner for a strike worthy of winning any game.
Reserve Football
The reserves got their league campaign up and running with a 4-4 draw away to Aileach on Sunday morning. Despite going 3 down in the first 20 minutes, they showed good resolve and battled their way back into it with goals from Dan mc Daid, 2 from Paul Hudie and Stephen Paddy mor scoring in the dying minutes to Secure a hard earned point.
