League Cup Holders Glengad Utd advance to defend the cup in final where they will play Aileach
Clonmany Shamrocks 0-2 Glengad United
In good conditions at Shamrock Park the home side had a chance in the opening minute when Michael Devlin raced into the area but failed to get enough power into the shot and Michael McLaughlin gathered. Play swung to the other end immediately and when Stephen McLaughlin fed Terence Doherty his shot took a deflection on its way past Patrick Harkin in the shamrocks goal. Glengad increased their lead on 15 minutes when Paddy Mc Dermott neatly tucked a penalty into the bottom corner. Glengad dominated most of the first half keeping possession weel but not creating many chances. Clonmany hit back on 38 minutes when Jamie Coyle unleashed a twenty five yards effort which sailed past McLaughlin's left hand post. Glengad continued on top after the restart and on 48 minutes Paddy Mc Dermott headed over at the back post after a deep Seamus Doherty cross. Minutes later Michael Byrne robbed a defender and advanced to unleash a twenty five yards effort which Patrick Harkin saved at full stretch. Then on 71 minutes Stephen McLaughlin , playing his final game for Glengad before he joins the Donegal panel, cut in from the right past a defender before drilling a low shot across goal and past the far post. On 87 minutes the home sides Jamie Coyle was unlucky when he saw a well struck free kick crash back off the bar but it is the holders Glengad who deservedly advance to the final.
